What does Swiss Industrial Heritage have to offer?
Organisation

VINTES, the Swiss association of industrial culture and the history of technology

Switzerland has a unique and little-known heritage of the country’s history over the last 200 years. Workers, engineers, factory owners and their families alike all helped to shape Switzerland through hard work, inventive spirit and entrepreneurial risk. Museums and collections preserve these stories and bring them all to life.

Network, educate, inform

In contrast to other countries with a significant industrial history such as the UK, Germany and France, Switzerland has very few conferences, no major publications and no central website. Networking of the various activities relating to industrial culture is underdeveloped at the national level.

VINTES is aimed at private and public institutions that are involved in collecting, preserving and communicating in the fields of industrial culture and the history of technology.

VINTES is the only platform where exchange takes place among different people and institutions. VINTES organises conferences, puts together an annual overview of activities relating to the history of technology and runs the SIH web portal.

The aim is to build a sustainable structure to give the subject matter the exposure it deserves in terms of cultural policy.
