Industiral stories made in Thurgau

The web archives at www.meineindustriegeschichte.ch collect objects, stories and interviews with contemporary witnesses about the industrial heritage of the Thurgau. The industrial boom has shaped generations and was entwined with personal stories of success, hope and fear. The filmed interviews bring to live the various living and working environments of the 20th century and preserve the memory of day-to-day life in the factory.

Thematic events, such as lectures and storytelling cafés at Frauenfeld castle, are dedicated to the industrial heritage of the Thurgau from the persepcty of company, migration and gender history. A visit to the St. Katharinental show depot near Diessenhofen takes you back to the pre-industiral age. The 100-year-o.d originas mechanical devices bear witness to both the cottage industry and the inventive spirit of that time.

Examples from the web archives:

On www.meineindustriegeschichte.ch, the former director Greti Büchi reports her work at the jersey factory Gustav Müller-Renner AG in Kreuzlingen from 1944-1955.

August Jud, chauffeur from 1956-1973 for the Brunnschweiler dye works in Hauptwil, recalls his fateful encounter with an Italian factory worker at www.meineindustriegeschichte.ch.
